About the Programme

This programme will:

Build Confidence in tackling ALL components of the Secondary School English Language Paper.
Offer Insights into Exam Performance Strategies for all sections of the O’Level Paper (and equivalent components in the Integrated Programme): e.g. Composition/Essay Writing (Reflective to Argumentative, to everything else in between), Comprehension, Situational/Functional Writing, Oral, and more.
Broaden Perspectives & Build Content Knowledge by discussing current affairs and issues that are relevant to their age group.
Develop a Love for Reading through a range of reading material across cultures, genres, and topics. (This is a HUGE part of building up a student's fluency and good grammar habits.)
Sharpen Critical Thinking Skills through friendly debates and discussion activities in class.
Hone Precision and Accuracy in Writing & Editing through regular vocabulary-building exercises and grammar practices.
BONUS: The CORE SEC Programme (Sec 1 & 2) is INCLUSIVE of Literature lessons. These lessons offer insights into Unseen Poetry & Prose, as well as how to approach their Set Text (e.g. Fahrenheit 451, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, Emily of Emerald Hill, Boy in Striped Pyjamas, and other texts covered by the SEAB Syllabus).

How does the 2-year programme work?

For Sec 4s: a rigorous programme devised to cover all aspects of the EL exams and prepare them thoroughly for the O-Levels.
For Sec 3s: following the same programme as the Sec 4s in their first year, but will go through a different set of lessons designed for O-Level English in their second year of the programme.
For Sec 1 & 2s: 2 years to build a solid foundation for the major examinations to come while introducing students to English Literature (compulsory subject at lower secondary in SG schools)
For students in the Integrated Programme (IP) and on the International Baccalaureate (IB) track: The Core Sec programme is suitable for students in Year 1 & 2 as the skills covered are essentially the same.
